Import Excel Files with Bank Data
Dear Wallet Team,
First of all, I am a fan of your product. Congratulations!
And only because of that I am posting this suggestion for new feature. Because wallet deserve more!
I used it by a half year and I choose wallet for two reasons:
1- The free version is very good;
2- Multi-platform support (for me is very important to manage money from my PC. The most of this kind of products has only mobile versions)
But now, I will not use it anymore!
And the reason is because the difficulty to maintain wallet synchronized with my bank. For me your product only make sense if it is fully sync with the bank account.
I am from Portugal and my bank is not available in your list, but even if it were, I never never put my passwords on any external service.
So, my suggestion to improve your product is a new simple functionality
IMPORT EXCEL FILES
1- The ability to import excel files with bank data;
2- On the import process, the user could create rules to map the excel data to wallet categories. The wallet learns and saves these rules;
3- On the next import, the wallet already knows the rules to map the data. If new data appears and there is no rule, the user must set a new rule to map the data. If there is no rule, the data is mapped to the “Other” category.
4- NICE TO HAVE: The sync process could be done automatically daily with a desktop app that search the excel file on a folder and does the sync. The user could map the uncategorized data later.
This could be a great feature that made me pay for it.
All online bank services export data to excel, mainly the data from bank movements, so this will be useful to everybody.
I saw that there is a import excel csv funcionality. I will test now.

Yes, the idea is great. Even power users with the data import would be a bit smarter! And it is great to learn that you are working on it.

I am really looking forward to using Wallet, but the missing import functionality is actually holding me back. I don't want to spend hours manually inputting all my bank account history and then finding out the csv import is just released. When can we expect this?
map every field to a column name in Excel and upload the excel. it is easier to maintain in Excel and most banks give the expense data also in similar format.

What could be the better way to be notified about this new feature?
sorry for the late reply and thanks for commenting on it again. :)
Actually - we are right now working exactly on this functionality. Currently we're in process of describing everything that is needed to accomplish this task from the point of view of users and it's the next thing on our to-do list.
Your advices and tips are very helpful,
thanks for them,
have a nice day,
