Possibility to create new categories and subcategories
Good morning,
I'm using the premium version of Wallet for Android updated at the latest version at the moment on play store (version 7.3.191).
I want to create new categories and subcategories, but right now I can only add a subcategory of a subcategory (sort of sub-subcategory).

Create and delete categories and subcategories is one of the most important features for an app like this

This is a basic feature, you should implement it as soon as possible!

this feature is essential. not all categories fit everyone's lifestyle and even though we can currently create sub-subcategories, that does not help, if the top category is wrong.
Example: "Kids" are now only available under "Shopping". 🤯 What about healthcare, nannies, groceries, education. One may want to create a category of their own, or perhaps a "Healthcare" category with a subcategory.
Right now all expenses mentioned would be broken down under some random categories and if you need reporting you either have look 3 levels deep or use labels. In both cases you lose the excellent graphs that wallet provides.
Being able to creat top-level categories would be ideal, because that would give us meaningful graphs. But at the very least we should be able to create custom subcategories.

From the outset I purchased the premium version because I assumed that the categories could be created new. I edited the existing ones anyway, very brief, but I can still use the app. In itself, it is a very complete and almost perfect application, just for this lack. Create new categories.

I completely agree. Everyone should be able to customize the categories to their liking also because they are a bit confusing as they are now... for example the difference between vehicles and transport. It seems absurd to me not to have the possibility of being able to create a custom category

This is one thing that's hindering me even further from going Lifetime. I'm currently at the free version still trying out features. For an app that cost $37 on Play Store or $49.99 on Paypal, it's super weird that it doesn't allow the users to add custom main category. Hell, I don't need bank sync. I will input things manually. I need custom categories.

I am a money lover user.
I was about to go premium.
I have imported successfully from Money lover data.
But sad that unable to edit or add new categories.
Categories should be editable as the app is global and people in different parts of the world spend money in different way.

I fully support this request as well. It's a must have feature which is available within many other competitors' products, even Wallet's main competitor in Czech rep : Spendee.

I completely support this feature request.

Yeah, I find this weird. I don't use the same categories as the ones that come with the app. Being able to edit secondary categories is a workaround, and it still means I need to think about which main category the new secondary category is under. The bank import thing is an excuse; there are custom rules to assign records to custom categories.

Unfortunately, someone from wallet answered my rating of the app on the Play Store in response to the impossibility to create custom categories the following:
"Hello Mata, thank you for your review. I'm afraid we cannot add Main categories due to the interface with the bank connection feature. But you can edit all specific main categories to your own needs. We are actively working on features which will give the users more control over their individual settings. Thank you for your understanding."
My answer to them is that's a cheap excuse. Maby apps like MoneyWiz have Bank Synchronization features and allow to user to create custom Categories.

Yes please, I used to use another app that has the ability to add unlimited categories and subcategories and I think that this would help us a lot, can't wait for it

I have tried several finance apps (more than 4) and they all allow managing the categories of expenses / income.
That change is very important here. -

Come on guys, this is a really needed (and basic) missing feature. Please! We really need to be able to create our own categories. 11 total categories are just not enough.

Hi,
I would also like the ability to edit the categories and sort them, just to make them cleaner, any chance this can be done, other apps I have used allow this

Hello,
I would like to know if there is any update or feedback from the devs regarding this suggestion. While I understand having fixed categories might make the app easier to use, it would be very useful to add the possibility to fully edit the categories.
For example, in my expense organization the separation between Transport and Veicles main categories doesn't really make sense, therefore a whole main category for me is completely useless. Also, I find confusing that the Health category is actually just a subcategory of "entertainment". Since it makes up quite a big part of my total expenses, it would make much more sense to have it as a main category.
Thank you for your feedback,
Mattia
